I think I played WotR for 14 hours today. And I think I spent the last six of them thinking 'hmm, that is a long time, I shall stop playing now'. But obviously failed at stop playing.
I did the latest DLC, which actually has some dialogue options you can't choose unless you've done Drezen so that was very early, then I did the Lost Chapel, twice, because I wanted the achievement where you unlock all the myth paths. If you do the Evil choices it do make that fight interesting. But I did not get an achievement at all and I don't know if it is supposed to work already or what. I just didn't want to do the Evil version permanently. So I had another go doing Good.
Ulbrig makes that fight really simple if he is lucky in the initiative order and Grabbing. I remember it being a lot more difficult. Not so much once Grab.
... it's a lot harder to actually Rescue people on Core difficulty. Which is depressing. Enemies that kill the hostages instead of trying to survive are just nasty.
After that I beat every army on the map and... actually I may have done Ulbrig and Daeran's quests before the Lost Chapel? Before the DLC bit. Was that yesterday? Oh dear, can't remember, that's too many hours of game in a row.
I am not a fan of Regill but he makes several things easier at this stage.
Thinking of firing him after we've won through though.
We did the assault on Drezen and I kept Camellia this time so she has been doing all the traps and we did the door opening from the side with the levers pretty smoothly.
Except for the bit where I have used So Many Cure Scrolls.
Just... so many.
I am running out and I invested heavily in Cure scrolls and potions.
Also in that dragon longsword for Seelah. Trouble is it is interacting poorly with my strategy of sleep hexing everything. It keeps doing an acid area effect and waking things up. That wasn't how I had imagined it going.
Seelah and her horse Midnight are getting a lot done. But I gave them Trample and have used it successfully... twice? I am not getting the hang of it.
Also the glitches are glitchy today. It forgot that walls are a thing, so every demon can run through them, and it decided vertical wasn't an important number, so a bunch of demons could arrive in the fight *from above* by running up stairs in another room. And I can't even claim it's not realistic because it's a ruined fortress so maybe there are no ceilings or walls there somehow. But. Ugh.
Arue has been recruited and we've met Greybor again and I survived the courtyard fight with Daeran out of spells even though we got Firestormed, so I think we did okay.
I stopped for the day having had a nice Rest in the courtyard and buffed for the next phase.
I got a tiny bit of new to me story today, but decided to undo it because I do not like playing Evil, even in small doses.
But once I choose myth paths I have decided to definitely choose Angel this time so I'll get actual new story there.
I am not enjoying Core as much as lower difficulties. Lumpy challenge, too much if it surprises you but if you prepare it's just a question of luck and carrying enough cure scrolls. Also it's frustrating knowing you'd have the exact spell you need if you levelled up one fight before this bit loaded instead of one fight after. I just can't justify getting a rest to load my new spells, only that means paying for it in cures when no one has True Seeing working.
I intend to take a day off the computer tomorrow. I am not good at moderation. Alternation shall have to do.
