beccaelizabethI think I've noticed a Cunning Plan about showing us that promo stuff from The Source at the convention.
All over my f-list, and probably the web in general, people are seeing the really bad spoilers and going *facepalm* and planning how to ignore the film.
And my first reaction is, against all logic and reason, to leap to the defence of the film
purely because the convention was cool
so the promo acquires cool by association.
Cunning.
I actually don't trust any spoilers, including what we saw. The film is too up in the air, may or may not be finished filming, has to be edited together, has FX to add... everything could change. I mean PW couldn't even tell us if Methos lives, as in didn't know, because they don't know what the ending is yet (and yes I choose to believe he was telling that straight up, because he was quite honest about the script problems etc later). And talking of script problems, apparently they were huge and ongoing right up until some time after DA got brought in. One of his drafts got lost. Things he'd written weren't in the script PW was given but they put them back in while filming. Basically it sounds like the entire project was just changes changes changes, until nobody quite knows exactly what is in it. And a lot of different things could be in it.
So.
Spoilers with wrong names in? I suspect early (bad) drafts.
Spoilers that look incredibly lame? Well they don't know how it ends yet, so how can they spoil for it?
But, at the same time... I worry.
Less, for having heard AP talk, and DA, and knowing where their priorities are.
More, for having heard they're changing things on purpose.
And most, because what Highlander have we had that was worth the keeping? Just the TV show. And the first movie, in its way. Mostly since then... really no.
Actually, not having seen Raven, I don't know about that. But deliberately not having seen season 6 except Indiscretions, and Endgame, because arrrgh no, my opinion of the franchise is... sort of woefully low.
Okay, that all comes out contradictory. How to rephrase...
I went in to the weekend with absolutely zero interest in The Source. I sat through the promo and thought *peeks through fingers OMG no*. But then I listened to the guys talk, and decided to bother finding out what people thought of the film once it was out, and consider watching it.
That's how good a promotional tool that weekend was.
