Having a momentary curiousity, I wondered about readers per week vs viewers per week.

Wiki reckons "In the UK, a hardcover book could be considered a 'bestseller' with sales of between 4,000 and 25,000 copies per week"

Obviously buying is not the same as reading, but I have no clue how readers per week could really be measured, so we'll just stick with that 25,000 for ballpark comparisons.

Doctor Who viewers per week? About 7 to 10 million.

Given that only a fraction of readers/viewers will ever become fans, let alone fanwriters - book fandoms are smaller.
