Highlander: CaH & Rev6:8 rough cut
Mar. 8th, 2006 12:20 amSo, I watched the extended version
both CaH and Rev6:8 were almost 10 minutes long on first cut
and once again I find, deleted scenes? Yaaay for deletion.
I don't think we lost anything that would have improved the episode.
and one part? With the wigs? Watched it between my fingers. Very, very bad.
The plot point - Kronos down the well - was interesting. How it was done? Oh. Very. Dear.
There were other bits of talking but most of them disambiguate Methos, and where's the fun in that?
So I've put the disc in for the regular version, and will watch again. Because brilliant.
Other things learned from the rough cut - post production, yaay! I might say I usually hate the music (though actually in these two eps I didn't hates it) but without music its a very different show. And the sound, and some of the editing, and just so many things. Finished versions have a lot of extra work put in.
And the vortex Quickening, unfortunately.
I'd kind of like to do like they do with old DW eps sometimes and go make a new and improved FX sequence to go there. There has to be a better way to make that happen.
Good things about the versions on the DVD - writer commentary with snark turned up to 11. Every niggly little thing you've ever thought 'er, hang on' about, highlighted, and also made funnier.
They also said only AP gives good Quickening. I disagree. PW gives *great* Q.
in all, great DVD extra, not great footage.
still fun to watch.
