Food has arrived :)
would have been much less complicated if my trousers would stop trying to fall down >:-[ But I choose to take this as a sign I'm losing weight, so yaays.
I, er, forgot I'd been in a 'chocolate now!' mood when I put the order together. Three packets of assorted cakelikes, a loaf of bread, and some baked beans. Plus a whole lot of orange juice. Methinks this was not the most efficient lot of shopping I ever did. *sigh*

I think I've noticed a Cunning Plan about showing us that promo stuff from The Source at the convention.
All over my f-list, and probably the web in general, people are seeing the really bad spoilers and going *facepalm* and planning how to ignore the film.
And my first reaction is, against all logic and reason, to leap to the defence of the film
purely because the convention was cool
so the promo acquires cool by association.

Cunning.

Okay, that all comes out contradictory. How to rephrase...

I went in to the weekend with absolutely zero interest in The Source. I sat through the promo and thought *peeks through fingers OMG no*. But then I listened to the guys talk, and decided to bother finding out what people thought of the film once it was out, and consider watching it.
That's how good a promotional tool that weekend was.

note to me:
exercise I actually quite like once I start:
dancing
specifically convention dancing, but not enough conventions happen to make it an exercise program.
I could try belly dancing. There is wiggling. Sounds like fun.

I could also try moving meditations, since the sitting still kind is good to do.

Martial arts (or dancings) that involve touching people... not so fun. Also, falling, bad. Three years of Judo and I never got the hang of it. Ouch.

Sitting still on my chair all the time = nearly fainting when I climb more than 2 sets of stairs. Which is embarrassing.

I could do more walking, but I'm vastly unmotivated. There isn't a whole lot I want that I can find in 3D but not on the computer. And if Tesco would stock the right kind of Quorn slices again, there pretty much wouldn't be anything.

Walking just to look at things might work in the few months where it is neither too hot nor too cold. But I have looked at my town already, and other towns require travelling first, and are therefore not exercise but holidays.

/vague plans.

The trouble with Highlander is the writers seem to think its all about the Highlander.

Whereas of course its all about Methos.

*nods*

actually the trouble is the factioning that happens when you know the writers are going to kill off characters regularly. Everyone so busy flagwaving for their guy, some of them start dissing the other guys, and their fans, and then it gets mean.

I like Richie. I like Methos. I like Connor. I usually like Duncan, except when the writers use him to do something really stupid. I like Amanda. I like some characters we only got to see the once, like Cory Raines.

Why can't the writers write it as if we like all of them?

This doesn't work as a first thing to watch.
I'm not sure it works as a last thing to watch.
It is rather unsatisfying as a narrative. Lots of little bits and pieces, many moments that should have emotional whammy, mostly skimmed over quickly from a distance.
I feel all :-/ about it.

I also feel rather sick because I forgot and left the cake packet next to the sofa. I'm sure there were six in there a film ago...

Almost forgot to mention, this is one of the Robin in latex episodes.
He played a Minbari called Coplann, on the Grey Council.
Love that man's voice.
And he can act even under that much makeup. There was some nice subtle stuff going on with his character.
Says I with fannish eyes, I know, but B5 must have liked him, he played, what, 4 different roles? All in alien makeup. Obviously because he's good at it.

He said at a convention once, he now can't act without latex somewhere on his body...

It amuses me that two of my favourite shows have the same name for their first episode.

I just watched this on DVD, and while the disc is unwrapped, I'm not sure I've ever actually watched that version before. The one in my head is shorter.
So, the DVD version is smoother, less jumpy, with better transitions and more little character moments. In some places this is the difference between 'makes sense' and 'never did quite make sense', so yaays.

There are a lot of things about the look of it that got changed before the series proper. Thank goodness. The Minbari kind of look like a lighter Narn with a bone on their head. Chin thing, strange. And all those flashing lights? Nobody chooses to work in a room full of strobe lights. Except DJs. Generally, flashing lights are not useful.

One moment I noticed this time through - Kosh called Sinclair "Entil'za Valenn" ??? (I probably spelled it wrong, but it was in the subtitles). Thats his title and name, right? Talk about big time give away! Nifty. Because its all alien gobbledygook at the time, so its quite safe to give it out.
:-)

I now want to watch more B5. Which is the purpose of the pilot, so yaay for them.

I actually also want to know what happened to all the vanished people. I know we got Lyta again later, but what about the doctor and the lt commander?
They probably got squished somehow, but I wants to know.
*sigh*

Stories! Always more of them than TV has time to tell!

Which is what fanfic is for.
But I don't think I've ever gone there for B5.
Hmmm...

It remains kind of freaky and kind of cool to watch a DVD and know that you're looking at dead people.
Not just dead characters, but dead real people.
Because they aren't dead when you're watching them.
In re-runs, everyone is immortal.
