I'm watching the Confidentials for the season.
I apparently gave up before Amy's Choice, so I've got some catching up to do.
I didn't so much like them sometimes because they tell you what to think and I wish to do the thinking.

The one I just watched for Hungry Earth said it would follow an episode all the way to broadcast, so it explained all the filming and visual effects and color grading (new! shiny!) and sound effects and foley sounds and, to my surprise, the Audio Description. They remember it exists! Win!
... but they didn't mention subtitles.

I think maybe the Doctor Who team don't have much to do with the Doctor Who subtitles. That would explain much.

Also I have noticed that the subs for the main show are better than for the Confidential. On the Confidential the exact same scenes will have different subtitles, and they're much more likely to be garbled (compared to my ears, the most likely versions, or the version you'd get with fan level context).

Doing subtitles for SF TV shows is probably not a viable career path, but they don't half frustrate me sometimes. If I ever get to do writing I'll make sure the subtitlers get the script and I check them before broadcast.

I like watching the behind the scenes stuff. Partly because it shows you many and varied ways a writer can accidentally make life difficult with particular changes. Mostly because it's kind of fascinating seeing how everyone wants to make TV shows but so many of them want to do parts of them that would drive me absolutely nuts. Diversity for much win.
