If I have understood Pathfinder sizes correctly
'Gargantuan'
means something from around the size of a bus to bigger than a double decker.

If I have understood the picture correctly, the thing currently trying to eat the PCs
has a mouth bigger than bus doors
and possibly on the scale of the whole front end.

... scale is not my strong point, but

This Adventure Path just randomly threw a CR 15 creature at a scheduled to be 9th level party.

... do a lot of them die at this point?

... are they tempted to run away?

Sure it's an entire church hospital full of humans, but, biiiiiiiig monster
on a challenge level about like an adult gold dragon or an ancient white dragon.

But with more tentacles.

That don't exist in only one dimension
so they care not for doors or walls
they just appear through them.




I, personally, am wondering what the designers were thinking at this point.



Maybe they are thinking that half way through an adventure path the characters might be getting complacent.
They've killed their way through everything so far.

So here, have a reminder of their own mortality!

Ah, I checked the paizo forums, and there's an interesting mixture of people going yikes can we skip it, designers explaining good tricks, or saying yeah you can but the art was so pretty, and a few GMs saying er they killed it in x rounds wtf now.

... soooo, that's more fun than it looks then...

but the fears of TPK are... very real.



So that's interesting.
